Because it’s easier to hunch over when you’re at your seat, a standing desk can help circulation flow and keep you more awake while you get your work done. This could potentially lead to an increase in overall productivity while on the job. However, it can be a bit hard on the joints, so it’s important to have an anti-fatigue mat under the standing desk to provide an extra layer of cushioning.

Fast Company reports that a study found people who were using standing desks were up to 46 percent more productive than their counterparts who were sitting while on the job. It’s important to make sure you’re balancing, though, so taking breaks throughout the day for the standing desk and going back to sitting can help.
