Anti Fatigue Matting FAQ's

bubbleroll.jpgFinding the perfect matting for your business is important for safety and comfort. Read through some of our common customer questions below to help you choose the best mat for your needs.

What are anti-fatigue mats? These mats are designed to reduce fatigue that is caused by standing for long periods on hard surface (e.g.,. cement floors). Fatigue-reducing mats can be made of various materials including closed cell pvc foam, rubber, carpeting materials and vinyl.

Why use anti-fatigue matting? Anti-fatigue mats are often used to decrease foot weariness for workers who stand in one position for long periods, boosting morale and productivity. Comfortable floor mats are also used to create a safer work place. Some Anti-fatigue matting offers a very high slip resistance in greasy or wet areas by using textured or grit top surfaces. Some mats have the OSHA Yellow borders to promote awareness of machinery and dangerous areas. Or you may simply want to add cushioning to your home work areas.

Is it necessary to buy an anti-fatigue mat for standing employees? Some short-term effects of standing all day without the proper map are exhaustion, loss of energy, lack of concentration or stiff neck and shoulders. The long-term effects however could be much worse. Not having a comfortable ergonomic mat to stand on could lead to serious problems later in life such as lower back pain, restricted blood flow, poor posture, even knee and hip arthritis.

Which mat works best for dry environments? One of our specialty anti fatigue mats is Cushion Trax, a product created specifically for dry environments. These anti fatigue floor mats are ideal for places such as assembly lines, lab areas, machinist workstations, and packaging stations.

Which mats work best for wet environments? If you need durable anti fatigue mats for oily work areas, the Diamond Plate Knob Backed Mat may be the best option. Available with drainage surfaces, these heavy-duty nitrile rubber products can be assembled to fit any area. Need something softer? Have a look at the 540 FIT Open Tile.

Do you have non-industrial anti-fatigue mats? Yes. Many of our anti-fatigue mats are designed for retail space, spas, salons and other businesses. Some of these mats for instance have alligator prints, hardwood flooring or marble top designs to compliment the decor of your space.

Besides reducing worker fatigue, what are the benefits of these mats? These mats are also perfect for other work environment needs, such as shock-absorption, fluid and chemical drainage and provide traction, are wear-resistant, and ESD/Conductive.

What is No Glue Bond (NGB)? This process provides a natural fusion-bond of foam and other top surface materials together without the use of expensive adhesives. This specialized anti fatigue mat process eliminates the cost of post overhead, off quality prices AND expensive adhesives.

Where should I place these mats? Anti-fatigue mats should be placed anywhere workers are standing for long periods of time. These locations include assembly lines, behind cash registers, food prep areas and cooking lines, bar areas, auto facilities or manufacturing plants to name a few.

What if I have a wide area to cover? If you have a wider work area such as an assembly line or long cooking station, you will want to be sure and cover this entire area with an anti-fatigue runner or interlocking tiles instead of a series of smaller mats that may move around and create a trip hazard.

Is it easy to trip on these mats? All of our anti-fatigue mats also come with built in or snap on beveled edges to eliminate trip hazards. These beveled edges can sometimes be brightly colored to promote awareness.
